Background
Mission
As an on-going mission to provide health, technology and research opportunities to assist especially marginalized populations, the Jennifer-Michael Institute for Community Health, Educational Technology and Research, NFP has been established as a home for such activities.
History
The Jennifer-Michael Institute for Community Health, Educational Technology and Research, NFP was founded in February, 2011 through a partnership between Michael Okello Ogwal, PhD, CNS and Jennifer Casandra Williams Herring, PhD. Dr. Ogwal, certified nutrition specialist, owns and operates a Natural Healing Clinic in Decatur, Illinois and has for many years now promoted the health and wellness of indigenous people, all people by proper diet and exercise. Dr. Herring is certified in Health and Technology Education and her interests lie in the promotion of health and wellness using technology to improve academic learning for poor youth. Dr. Ogwal and Dr. Herring envisioned creating a place where educational services can be provided to the general public and especially in low-income communities and low-income schools such as but not limited to health seminars, technology-based seminars, educational seminars, educational training, educational research in schools and the community, and community health promoting venues.
